Frequently Asked Questions

Renewal of Domain name

It is in theory on invoicing contact that fall the task of renewal of the domain name. However, we authorize whoever to renew a domain name by online payment using a valid bank card. That allows more flexibility for renewal, in particular in emergency cases. Whoever is the “payer”, the invoicing will always be established in the name of the invoicing contact.

It is in theory with the retailer that you must carry out the renewal transaction. You can however renew directly at BookMyName if you change the Administrative and Invoicing contacts of your domain name. See https://www.bookmyname.com/manager.cgi?cmd=dlmctc then after http://www.bookmyname.com/renew.cgi

No. A domain name must be renewed before the end of its period of validity. You can renew your domain name at any time during the period of validity. It is not necessary nor advised to wait until it has expired, to renew it nor to await our reminders! It should be remembered that an expired domain name is automatically disconnected and that online services (Website, electronic messaging…) then do not function any more. The renewal is done online via our Website with payment by bank card.

In case of gTLD (.COM .NET .ORG .BIZ .INFO .NAME .MOBI) and .US :

If the deadline date for renewal has been exceeded by less than 30 days, you can always carry out a renewal. If the deadline date for renewal has been exceeded by more than 30 days contact us. http://www.bookmyname.com/contact.cgi

In case of ccTLD (.EU .BE .FR) :

If the deadline date for renewal has been exceeded, contact us http://www.bookmyname.com/contact.cgi

You can renew a domain name for one or more years without the total duration of the contract being able to exceed 10 years as a result (for example, a domain name which is in its last year of validity could be renewed for a maximum duration of nine years.)

There is no absolute rule: A domain name must imperatively be renewed before the end of its period of validity in order to avoid any risk of interruption to your online services. You can renew your domain name at any time during its period of validity. It is not necessary nor advised to wait until it has expired, to renew it nor to await our reminders! It should be remembered that an expired domain name is automatically disconnected and that online services (Website, electronic messaging…) then do not function any more.

30 days before expiry is a reasonable time which makes it possible to have time to react in the event of a problem.

In case of gTLD (.COM .NET .ORG .BIZ .INFO .NAME .MOBI) and .US : It means that probably the deadline date for renewal of your domain name (expiry date) is exceeded by more than 30 days! Beyond this limit, the domain name has left our database and been returned at the disposal of the Domain Name System Registry (“Registry”). Consequently, you will no longer find the domain name, neither in your account, nor in our WHOIS database. You will therefore not be able to reactivate it by simple renewal.

It is placed by Registry in the status of “redemption period” for new 30 day duration. During this whole period, the domain name can still be restored by repurchase at the Registry.

During the “redemption period”, the domain name can be restored by repurchase from the Operator of the Register (“Registry”), only through ourselves.
To initialize the procedure of restoration, you should contact us as soon as possible via the URL: http://www.bookmyname.com/contact.cgi
We will then communicate to you in return information and documents necessary for the activation of the transaction.
The restoration cannot only be carried to the exclusive benefit of the applicant already owner of the domain name before its deletion from our database. The cost of such a repurchase is higher than that of a simple renewal. It corresponds to the costs collected by the Registry and our own management fees for the com pletion of the repurchase transaction; it includes the renewal of the domain name for one year. The amounts of the restoration costs are indicated in our heading “ Our Offers and Rates”: https://www.bookmyname.com/offers.cgi If the 30 day deadline is exceeded, the domain name can no longer be restored: it is then placed by the Registry in the status “pending delete”.

Nothing! It is too late. Registry has placed the domain name in this status for the pending hand-over to the public domain, and this, at the end of a five (5) day period. Once released, the domain name will be memory-mapped once again according to the rule of “first come, first served”.
